Sleeve Stuck

Did you ever get yourself in a bind with a jacket, of all things? And it being in a somber ceremony of lent on Ash Wednesday.
The service had just started when I decided that I needed to take my outer jacket off. I had on this velvety underjacket,so I thought I could slip out quietly of the jacket that ordinarily would not stay on without all buttons buttoned. My good friend was sitting behind me so when the jacket stuck on my right arm, she tried to help!! What a fiasco!! the outer jacket sleeve turned inside out--the inner jacket sleeve turned inside out as well as coming off my shoulder. The whole opening devotion was over and I was still bound with the inside out inner jacket. I thought for a while that I'd probably have to have an arm amputation before things would be right again.
In the meantime, good friend was having a good laugh. So much for the proper decorum at a serious, religious service. Friend Bill was his usual put together self. I'll probably never know how much embarassment I cause him on a lot of things.
I came home, started the dishwasher (all silverware was used, and since I don't do chopsticks or fingers, had to do that job), spent the rest of the day on the bed, watching soaps and reading. I'll hate myself tomorrow for being a sloth but one can only live in the momet of life. Hopefully, tomorrow will be more productive. On the other hand, Who Cares?

I can just picture this! It must be a family trait....It brings to mind the story of your sister when she was trying to get out of a lazy boy chair. She was having trouble with the workings of the chair and couldn't seem to get the foot recliner down. She messed around with the handles and finally seemed to lower the foot part...unfortunately, she caught her robe in the mechanism and almost fell on her face. Luckily, she didn't hurt herself...but I laughed until I cried because the last words out of her mouth before the robe got caught was something to the effect of "I don't know why everybody makes fun of my little difficulties...see, I figured it out!" This was right before she almost fell due to the robe getting caught! Oh well, I can't laugh too much.. I have those same family genes! At least she wasn't in church...that adds a whole other layer to the story!

I would have loved to have seen that. I do remember the story about the lazy boy as well. Definately a family thing.
